The Story Behind AMS
When John Beasley decided to retire and close LAS Motorhomes, something important was about to be lost – decades of specialised knowledge in American RV repair and restoration. That’s when Adam Budd, along with his wife Chloe Budd and Lee Wykes, stepped in and set off on their own.
As electrical and mechanical engineers with over 30 years each in the motor trade, Adam and Lee weren’t about to let that expertise disappear. More importantly, as American RV owners themselves, they knew firsthand how difficult it was to find mechanics who truly understood these unique vehicles.
From Idea to Full-Service Workshop
We launched American Motorhome Services in April 2025, and the response blew us away. It turned out we weren’t the only ones frustrated by the lack of specialist American RV services. Within months, word had spread throughout the RV community, and we realised we needed to expand fast.
Today, our workshop includes:
- Complete electrical and mechanical repair bays
- Fully equipped body shop for collision repair and restoration
- Dedicated metalworking facilities for custom fabrication
- Woodworking shop for interior restoration and upgrades
- Parts storage for hard-to-find American RV components
What We Actually Do (Beyond the Basics)
Sure, we handle routine maintenance and standard repairs. But where AMS really shines is tackling the problems other garages won’t touch:
Electrical Systems: From diagnosing mysterious power drain issues to completely rewiring vintage Airstreams, we speak the language of 12V, 110V, and everything in between.
Structural Work: Whether it’s repairing accident damage or reinforcing a 20-year-old chassis, we have the metalworking skills to make it right.
Custom Projects: Want to convert a bus? Add solar? Build custom storage solutions? We love the challenge of unique builds.
Restoration: We’ve brought Winnebagos back from the dead and made 1970s Class As look factory-fresh again.
Why Choose AMS for Your American RV or Motorhome?
Here’s the thing – Adam and Lee don’t just work on these vehicles Monday through Friday. Adam drives a restored Fleetwood Bounder, and Lee’s weekend adventures happen in his self-converted Bluebird school bus. When we’re working on your rig, we’re thinking about what we’d want done to our own.
We also understand the parts challenge. American RVs often need components that UK suppliers don’t stock. We’ve built relationships with US suppliers and maintain inventory of common failure items, so you’re not waiting weeks for a simple repair.
Located Just off the M1 at junction 15 in Northamptonshire – Serving RV Owners Nationwide
Whether you’re dealing with a breakdown, planning a restoration, or just want someone who knows American RVs to give yours a proper service, we’re here to help.
Every job – from a weekend warrior’s annual service to a full ground-up restoration – gets the same attention to detail. Because at the end of the day, we’re not just fixing vehicles. We’re keeping dreams on the road.
